Telltale smudges

Am I the only person who eats my kids Halloween candy?

I like to think of myself as honest as the day is long , but I think nothing of dipping into the orange plastic pumpkin (even better now with two kids there are TWO plastic pumpkins) when no one is looking. Months later they ask me…Hey Mom?? Whatever happened with all our Halloween Candy?...

Ummmm…?

I have been known to go to great lengths to eat chocolate bars in secrecy (usually in the car), being sure to check for telltale smudges, and then stashing the wrappers quietly so no one will ever find them…Granted loot I have bought for myself... but still...

Last week my daughter informed me that she REALLY wanted to eat her red and white glossy iced snowman cookie with the neat robins egg blue top hat that I had dragged carefully wrapped in red tissue for her from Starbucks…on the OTHER side of the ocean.

Because I only had one bite Mommy and it was really yummy…

(Now how was I supposed to know she would want the rest of it?)

TBG was sitting across the table from me and after he noted the slight pause and flinch before I could conjure up an answer. He quickly figured out EXACTLY where Frosty the cookie had gone.

Geesh…you’d think since I had dragged it all the way across the ocean for her without eating it, I could have staved off devouring it for a little bit longer…

Easter is coming …groan…gosh don’t even get me started…

I not only ate/stole my children's Halloween, Valentine's and Easter candy on the sly (and it becomes increasingly difficult to hide the dwindling stash as they get older) but I keep my own hidden stash. For emergency purposes only. Like once a day.

Actually, don't consider it as stealing - think of it as a perk or a reward for being a mother.

I had to give it up. They are just too on the ball, they KNOW right away, and they both keep a running tally. I am reduced, pathetically to begging.

Why do you still have Halloween candy?

Yeah, why in January do you still have Halloween candy? I ate all my kids Halloween candy by Thanksgiving!

I often try to sneak a chocolate treat but my kids are getting too smart!

Now, Nomad. You can't allow your children to have all that candy. It's BAD for them. You OWE IT TO YOUR CHILDREN to eat large portions of their Halloween candy.

IT'S FOR THE KIDS!!

Totally off the topic of your post - but how else to communicate with you? I checked out that site caringmedical.com re: prolotherapy. I was "right in there" until I read the part as to what it entailed. An injection. (Don't remember of what, exactly.) Ever since I had the preliminary procedure for a nerve block which involved numerous injections, I have a terrible fear of injections in my back. That procedure left me unable to feel my leg or walk for about 24 hours - and it wasn't supposed to. Needless to say, I did not proceed with the nerve block itself. Until it becomes absolutely necessary(god forbid) I'm trying to manage without invasive procedures. Lots "wrong" in that area. Don't think there's a procedure that would work for everything. What I do love (and it has performed miracles) is hydrotherapy (exercise in very hot water.)
Thanks for that link, though. I appreciate any information.
Very long "commment." If you want to respond to me, I have an e-mail address on my blog.

Thanks again - hope your chronic pain situation is under control!

beth, I've been doing the Prolo also, but on my foot, and have also had a nerve block done, two totally different things. It was fun tripping over myself when my foot was numb.
Although the Prolo injections are painful in the foot, it is helping. There is no numbness, and no tipping over! People would just say, "She's drunk again!"

diva eva - thanks for responding. Pain I can stand (no kidding) but the fact the doctor admitted "something went wrong" with that nerve block procedure still scares me.
Perhaps I'll ask my family doctor about prolotherapy. Or maybe I'll check with lots of doctors! I am still so wary about injections in my back.
