Guilty Pleasures

For as much ranting and raving as I just did about sh*tty Xmas gifts, I truly cannot complain. TBG is so sweet and always brings me the loveliest things, either he has a nice girlfriend who helps him pick out just the perfect thing to keep the wife happy and unsuspecting or else he is just really good at it. (Contrary to myself who whenever I go out shopping for anyone else end up with one or two intended items and a bunch more stuff for myself...) I can't even use the excuse that I don't get out much as I do it all the time.

**EXASPERATED BLUSH**

Every decent piece of jewelry I own has come from him, not too mention lots of other things that I simply love, like my silver rose urn for Valentines day or a beautiful embroidered shawl from Italy just 'cause. Not sure how I wrangled that but lucky me I guess.

The guy has got great taste.

He also likes to bring home chocolate, which is all well and good but for anyone who is somewhat like myself, a chocolate lover (Trish over at
Coffee House Chatter) and on a diet for the last 20 years…the stuff starts to talk to me as soon as everyone else is out of the house.

woohOOoo.............(it always starts out a whisper)......................

Whewwww hoooo!!! YA YOU!!!....................................................

HEY!!!............................ WAnna Little NIBBLE!!!...Just one...... C"MON!

You look a little peckish!...No.............. I said Peckish not SKINNY!!!

(Nothing like being insulted by a box of chocolate even if they are European...come to think of it sort of like my normal life here...)

Hey... wait a minute...

And then it goes off like that until the chocolate and I are both gasping for breath…me wide eyed, satiated, satisfied and it depleted.

The best thing is when TBG gives it to me just before he take off on another trip…then hopefully he’ll forget to go for a little nibble and will never notice.

There I am at the end of it all with an empty-box-that-requires-hiding staring me in the face while I shiftily wipe smudges from my cankered lips, with fuzzy teeth and a guilty conscience really hoping I don't have to explain what has happened to the whole entire thing...

Spectacular image, just makes me hungry...tempted...covetous

On the boat, no stores around when the craving hits, and sometimes.....So the husband had a great plan. Knowing that I have no will power AT ALL if there is chocolate anywhere, he would buy it on the sly and stash it in the boat where none of us could find it, then after a particularily crappy day, or when I just wanted it badly, he'd pull some out and pass it over. God, ya gotta love a man who thinks of laying in chocolate stores for you....

Two asides about life in France, met a french couple here, they had been here for 8 months and complained that they didn't find the people very friendly and couldn't seem to make any contacts with them. I refrained from saying that You had been there what 3 years? 2? and felt the same way about the French.

My Aunt and Uncle who have lived outside of Grenoble for 20 YEARS and are completely fluent, said that they have no french friends!!!! Unbeleivable

You are very lucky. My guy tries hard but...
I am a chocoholic too so he knows that's always a good gift for me.
